Guidelines for Enhancing the Hemispheres

A class that seeks to enhance Hemispheric Harmony needs to:
(Exciting News: This content is patent pending)

1. Provide activities that stimulate each hemisphere.
2. Provide a method to make people aware that they are using each hemisphere
3. Provide moments of reflection to let people listen to their hemispheres.
4. Provide a way to measure how people feel at the end and at the beginning of such a class.

For example,
1. A fitness class may give routines. It can also give students a chance to free style.

2. If the students follow blindly the routines, they will have a less effective stimulation of the hemispheres. To make students aware of the routines, the instructor can point them out. The students might succeed in memorizing and repeating the routines on their own. Even if they cannot, they can at least follow with help, but with the awareness that they are following routines. When they are expressing themselves freely to music, they instructor can point that out.

3. Moments of rest (child pose) or HeartMark can help people take time out to listen to their breath. They can pay attention to the thoughts they may have had that kept them from following the routine or following the free style. They should accept each side’s need to express itself. Then they can move back to listening to their breath.

4. People should feel better at the end of class than at the beginning. The instructor may ask, “how does everyone feel?” in the beginning of class. On a scale of 1-5, with 5 being the greatest, hopefully everyone will feel 5 at the end. A 5 means the hemispheres are quite balanced! That’s Hemispheric Harmony!

A game that seeks to enhance Hemispheric Harmony needs to:
1. Provide activities that stimulate each hemisphere.
2. Provide a method to make people aware that they are using each hemisphere.
3. Provide moments of reflection to let people listen to their hemispheres.
4. Provide a way to measure how people feel at the end and at the beginning of the game.

For example:
1. A Heart Mandala game would encourage children or adults to follow a particular pattern of design and yet also give people a chance to color the design, for example.
2. Children would be made aware of the pattern as well as the free-style opportunities.
